Demons has everything you'd want in an eighties horror movie; bad acting, Aqua Net styled hair, lots of gooey gore and a heavy metal soundtrack featuring Billy Idol & Motley Crue! Produced by Dario Argento, this movie is perfect for a horror night get together; invite a few friends over, drink some beer, and have a good laugh at the expense of other people's demise. Despite it's low budget feel, Demons has a strong visual style accompanied by very well done special effects.

The movie begins when two college students are given complimentary tickets to a sneak preview at a newly opened theatre in Berlin. They decide to skip class and check out the theatre. Upon arrival they discover that a vast crowd of movie goers have gathered for the screening. Props from what appear to be a horror movie are displayed out in the lobby. A prostitute in amazing red spandex leggings, examines one of the props, a strange silver mask, and scratches herself on the face while trying it on. Her pimp then rightfully exclaims "That'll teach you to touch things!".
Shortly after everyone gets settled in and the screening begins. As the plot unfolds, the prostitute notices that a character in the movie is scratched by a mask similar to the one she tried on out in the lobby; whoever wears the mask becomes a demon and an instrument of evil. At that point the cut on her cheek starts to bleed, she goes to the bathroom to take a closer look; as she looks into the mirror the cut bursts open and spews a putrid creamy puslike substance. Soon after she transforms into a bloodthirsty demon. The pimp notices that his woman has been gone for too long so he sends her friend to check up on her. She in turn is attacked by the spandex wearing demon and the pestilience begins to spread. Before long all hell breaks loose and the audience members flee the theatre in a frenzied panic.

While attempting to escape, they discover that all the of the exits are inexplicably bricked in. With no way out, they are forced to remain inside and battle for their lives against the ever growing demon horde.

Demons is a film that knows exactly what it is and unapologetically celebrates it. It's having a party to poke fun at crappy B horror, and you are invited! The plot is nonsensical and at no point even attempts to explain why this is happening or where it came from. But who cares? this movie is mindless bloody fun! Any concerns you may have will be quickly dismissed by the onslaught of gratuitous violence and gore, high body count, and killer heavy metal soundtrack. Not to mention a blind guy getting his eyes gouged out (oh the irony) and some good old hack and slash adminstered via motorcycle!

Demons is one of the most cheesy, wonderfully over-the-top horror films of the 1980s.
